Art in the Wild

Natural art workshop

Unwind your mind and connect with nature as artist Lucy and ecologist Sophie take you on a wild wander through the stunning nature reserve, as you explore nature with your senses and gather natural materials and inspiration to make your own art materials from the wild. Then unleash your creativity as you make your own eco-friendly journal, leaf-printed bag, charcoal from willow, and pigments, brushes and more from the wild. Finish with some mindful downtime in nature, where you’ll use your new materials to capture a lasting memory of your experience.

What’s included?

  • An immersive nature walk, learning about the signs of wildlife, as well as the ecology and folklore of our flora, fauna and habitats, whilst gathering and foraging for materials to make your own art from the wild.
  • We will guide you as you learn to make your own eco-friendly journal, charcoal from our home-grown willow, try out Hapa-Zome (Japanese leaf dyeing) and make brushes, quills and pigments from the wild.
  • All materials are included and you will take away the natural art materials, journal and hand-printed organic cotton shopper bag you make yourself in this workshop.
  • Light refreshments (coffee/tea & cake!)

Who is it for?

All of our workshops are suitable for absolute beginners, and no previous experience is necessary. Workshops are best suited to adults and older teenagers (16+, accompanied by an adult), however family friendly options are available for private bookings upon request. Our maximum group size is 10 people.

Where and when?

Workshops run from 10am – 2pm, and are held in our craft studio on our family farm in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow. For dates and availability, please click BOOK NOW at the bottom of the page.

Anything else I should know?

As the workshops are held on a working farm and include an outdoor element, participants will need to bring suitable clothing (e.g. wellies/boots, rain jacket, warm layers on colder days).

The workshops do consist of some outdoor elements in natural areas on uneven ground. The nature trail includes some slopes, and travels over small logs etc. and the nature trail and farm paths are not currently wheelchair accessible. However, workshops may be adapted to suit participants with additional physical needs and we ask you to please get in touch prior to booking to discuss your needs.

Group bookings

We offer a discount if you book 4+ places at any of our half-day workshops. We also take private group bookings (6 – 10 people), which are available on request, subject to availability, and transportation can also be arranged. For more information – please get in touch.

Price

€115 per person, which includes all materials and refreshments.
