Art in the Wild
Natural art workshop
Leave your stresses at home and wake up your creativity with our Art in the Wild workshop. Four hours getting creative in nature is guaranteed to be good for your soul (and we even have marshmallows around the campfire!). We’ll take you on a wild wander through our stunning nature reserve, where you will explore nature with your senses and forage for natural materials and inspiration to make your own art from the wild. Then unleash your creativity as you make your own eco-printed carrier bag, charcoal leaf prints, eco-friendly sketchbook, and pigments, pencils, brushes and more from natural materials.
What’s included?
- An immersive nature walk, guided by ecologist Sophie & artist Lucy, where you’ll forage and gather natural materials to make your own art from the wild, and learn a little about the ecology and folklore of our flora and fauna in our beautiful nature reserve.
- We will guide you as you learn to make your own Hapa-Zome (Japanese leaf dyeing) eco-printed carrier bag, turn our home-grown willow into charcoal to make beautiful leaf prints, craft your own eco-friendly sketchbook, and create brushes, pencils, quills and pigments from foraged natural materials.
- All materials are included and you will take away an eco-printed organic cotton shopper bag, charcoal leaf prints (that you’ll want to hang on your wall!), sketchbook and natural art materials.
- Light refreshments (coffee/tea & cake!) as well as roasted marshmallows on the campfire!
Who is it for?
All of our workshops are suitable for absolute beginners, and no previous experience is necessary. Workshops are best suited to adults and older teenagers (16+, accompanied by an adult), however family friendly options are available for private bookings upon request. Our maximum group size is 10 people.
Where and when?
Workshops run from 10am – 2pm, and are held in our craft studio on our family farm in Newtownmountkennedy, Co. Wicklow. For dates and availability, please CLICK HERE.
Anything else I should know?
As the workshops are held on a working farm and include an outdoor element, participants will need to bring suitable clothing (e.g. wellies/boots, rain jacket, warm layers on colder days).
The workshops do consist of some outdoor elements in natural areas on uneven ground. The nature trail includes some slopes, and travels over small logs etc. and the nature trail and farm paths are not currently wheelchair accessible. However, workshops may be adapted to suit participants with additional physical needs and we ask you to please get in touch prior to booking to discuss your needs.
